Week for Breastfeeding

From 1st to 7th of August Each year The Breastfeeding week is celebrated with the purpose of encouraging this practise, taking into consideration that maternal milk is the ideal nourishment to provide all the necessary nutrients for a baby’s healthy growth and development. In this context the Hospital invited all mothers and pregnant women to take part of an exclusive workshop called “Breastfeeding Emotional Aspects” in charge of the British Hospital’s Breastfeeding Policlinic Team, integrated by Nurses, Psychologists and Nutritionists. From our institution we support the practise of breastfeeding from the first moment in which a baby is born. The Breastfeeding Policlinic Team visits all hospitalized mothers in the Hospital’s Maternity section to clear all doubts concerning breastfeeding, helping them out whenever they have any trouble. This way we try to provide the necessary information and support so that this practise is effective from a nutritional point of view and so the affective bond between mother and baby can be strengthened. In the case of high risk newborns, the team of this area makes a visit to their homes to exchange the doubts concerning the topic with the family core and to accompany them through this phase. During the first months the mothers Ialso have the possibility to make telephonic consults the 24 hours or they can schedule an appointment with the Breastfeeding Policlinic. We invite future moms to get in touch with this service, in which you’ll find the information and support you need. More information: Doctor’s appointment, extension number 2740
